Restful Roman Bath
This Hill Country bathroom needed an update in form and function. Its outdated wallpaper had to go, but the clients wanted to incorporate their existing tub and tile surround, as well as their flooring, into the new plan.

Room Fu’s design plan starts with the existing white and almond tile in the room and combines these creamy neutrals with deeper travertine tones, teals, and grays to create a tailored, masculine look. Since storage is at a premium, the clients decide to forego the original vanity’s footprint in favor of a shorter single vanity so they can include a new linen tower in the mix.
The new vanity in rich mahogany features a gracefully bowed front and a travertine countertop. The modern, framed mirror echoes the soft colors of the brushed nickel fixtures and cabinet hardware in its textured paint finish.
The backsplash incorporates white tiles and almond liners--to coordinate with the existing tub surround--and keeps the look fresh with travertine inserts and a checkerboard mosaic. The entire design is capped off with white “shelf rail” tiles for a luxurious, dimensional look.
Textured rain glass modernizes the tub area and keeps the enclosure from feeling claustrophobic.
Slightly iridescent crocodile-patterned wallpaper above the chair rail adds glamorous texture, while harmonizing with the roman brick design of the grayish-teal wallpaper below.
